Best Friends

My two best friends in the whole world are Anthony Novelli and Doug Cote. All three of us excel at different things, but that is what I believe this allows us to be best friends. I am the serious and athletic one. I take everything literal and always push myself to be the best. i am the athletic one because I am the one who continued to play sports in college. Doug is the one with the wisdom and sense of humor. Doug knows a lot about meaningless information. He also is the type of person who will create this elaborate and complicated story just so he can weasel himself out of doing something he doesn’t want to do. He is also the creative one who says things as soon as they come to his mind. Anthony on the other hand is the intelligent one. He is the smartest one out of all of us when it comes to academics.  Anthony is also the decision maker of the group because Doug and I really don’t care what we do, and we always rely on Anthony to make plans. As you can see we barely share similarities in personality but it is a perfect balance and that is why we are best friends.
One thing we all love is sports. Even though we all pretty much like different teams, we enjoy sports. There is one sport that is our favorite and that is rec basketball. Rec basketball is regular basketball it is filled with a bunch of kids that are not very good. So the three of us were on the same team, along with my brother and we dominated the league for several years. This allowed us to strengthen our friendship while we were playing basketball. I am going to miss playing rec, and I know they will miss it as much as I will.

College

College football has played a major role in my life in these past 4 weeks. Today is is September 13th and exactly a month and a day ago I stepped foot onto this campus for the first time as a member of the nichols community. To be honest i have never been more nervous in my life. This was the first time I would be living away from home, the first time I would be in college and the first time I would be playing college football. Personally for me living away from home has been a huge change in my life because I have always had two loving parents there for me. Now I know they are still there for me but it is my time to go out and make an impression on the world. The first time in college expercience had me a little nervous because I had heard from everyone i talked to that in college you have so much free time. That had me a little nervous because I feel that I function better when I am on a schedule.\
Even though this experience has been a challenge I have had football to fall back on. Yes, everyone is going around school saying stuff like, "I hate football," but for me its the best time of my life. When I put the pads on everyday it takes me back to sunda mornings when I was seven years old and my mom would come into my room with my football uniform and wake me up. I would then get dressed and have some breakfast then proceed to my game. Those were some of the best times of my life, and I am grateful to my parents for granting me an oppurtunity like this. I am also playing for my father. We use to argue all the time about the simplest things and I regret and take the blame for every fight we got into, because he was only trying to help. He still plays football, its flag football, but he use to play for the Leominster Razorbacks but he had to give that up when he broke his leg. He knew that he had a family to support so he stop playing the real football to take car of us. He also was never able to play football past his freshman year in high school because his parents never showed him half of the support he shows me. So to honor him I am playng college football to show him even though he never got to live out his dream he helped me be the best player I can be.

In a capitalist country if I were a small business owner i would be able to flourish because of the freedom I have. A capitalist country is one where all or most of the factors of production and distribution and privately owend. So if I were a small business owner i would have the ability to control the production and distribution of our goods. Also, in a capitalist economy those same business owners control the market rather than the federal government. So those same business owners that control what to produce and how much to produce also control the price those goods are sold for. This can create a problem when a business is struggling but the good they produce is a necesity then they are forced to raise the price and that often causes people to be unable to purchase the good. An example of this is my father, because he is a small business owner. He owns a small construction business with only three employees. He keeps the business so small so that he can control the flow of income and keep track of his supplies. As a small business he prides himself on completeing the job to the best of his ability which gets him the reputation of reliable. Along with being reliable he also ensures the costumer that at no point in time will he create an inflation of prices that cause the customer to be out on a limb. If you are a small business owner and the tax is reduced the advantage is the amount of money you have to pay is reduced. On the opposite end if the taxes get lowered and the government is not in control then you are not recieving any money from the federal government.

NFL Lockout

This summer was a crazy summer in which many football fans found themselves in limbo about the possibility of no football this season. The main issues that were up for debate were how to divide the nine billion dollar pie that gets distributed to the owners and players. Also, they were working on installing a rookie salary cap. All these issues led to the the lockout that left many people wondering if they would have a job this coming year and fans wondering if the game they love would be able to be played this year. Fortunately for everyone the issues were resolved and the NFL is currently in full swing of the pre season with week one swiftly approaching.
One issue that seems to be plaguing the NFL is injuries. The injuries seem to be more frequent because the during the lockout teams were unable to work out together so when the lockout was finally lifted many of the athletes found themselves suffering serious injuries due to a lengthly lay off from last season. Hopefully the injuries are not truly serious and these athletes can return so the sport does not take a serious hit.
