Love

What is love if it is the hardest thing in the world for us to find. People spend years of their life searching for the one person that completes them. We often try and fail repeatedly but without attempts you would not know what type of person you are looking for to complete you. In a quote by Andre Brenton he states “All my life, my heart has yearned for a thing I cannot name.” This is something we all can relate to. A personal example of myself experiencing love but being unable to express it still haunts me to this day.

I found the most beautiful girl and someone I can see myself spending the rest of my life with. Her name is Laura Cote. She is tall, tan and gorgeous. She is a year older than me, and is also my best friends cousin. I know she is special to me because, she is one of a few people in my life that I remember in great detail the first time we met. It was whenni was in sixth grade and my best friend Anthony asked me if I wanted to go to his cousins basketball game. I agreed, but unannounced to me that I was going to be introduced to the girl of my dreams. From the moment I laid eyes on her, I felt an instant connection. Unfortunately for me to this day we are still friends and I am struggling with expressing my feelings to her. My problem is that I do not want to lose her.

This whole situation has turned into basically a joke for my two best friends. This was until last weekend when we reunited for the second time since school started. We meet in Rhode Island at our friends beach house and were discussing our love lives. This is when the topic of Laura came up and I proceeded to take control of the situation by expressing to them how I really felt but this time I didn’t let them turn it into a joke. I told them I can’t stop thinking about her and for the first time they truly understood how I felt and began to provide me with some confidence. Hopefully this confidence can translate over to action. This action would lead to the girl of my dreams and the girl of me dreams leads to love, which is what we are all searching for.

Top 3 inspirational speeches

Pre game speeches are the last words your leader or coach have you before you go into battle. They often provide you with a purpose and a reason as well as a motivation to over come the obstacle in front of you. Often the greatest speeches are provided to under dogs who ultimately go out and play the best game they could and most of the time prevail and pull of the incredible victory.

1.    1.  The Best Speech is easily any given Sunday. The speech is given by Al Pacino and is inspirational because he compares the game of football to life. He shows this group of men that if they are willing to do anything for the man next to them then they will prevail. His popular line is “that inch” because he knows that those inches are every where around you but it takes pure dedication and heart to get those inches.

2.     2.The next best speech is in the movie of Friday Night Lights. In the movie Billy Bob Thornton provides his team with a speech that inspires his team and teaches them that these last two quarters are the last two quarters your team is able to play with each other. This unites the team and allows them to realize that this is it for their careers and they discuss the definition of perfect.

     3.  Drew Brees quarterback of the New Orleans Saints motivates his team with an inspirational speech that rallies and unites the team.

           “Brees: 1; Chorus: 2
Brees: Win; Chorus: For You
Brees: 3; Chorus: 4
Brees: Win; Chorus: Some More
Brees: 5; Chorus: 6
Brees: Win; Chorus: For Kicks
Brees: 7; Chorus: 8
Brees: Win; Chorus: It's Great
Brees: 9; Chorus: 10
Brees: Win; Chorus: Again
All: Again, Again, Again, Again!”

These speeches are not easy to preform and only the legends are able to rally an entire team. These men have the ability to get an entire group of people to believe in the cause and preform not only for themselves but also for the person next to them.

Football: Agression and Teamwork

Aggression is something that you need when plying football. Football is a physical and aggressive game. You work so hard and even if you work as hard as possible but one of your teammates takes a play off you team will suffer. This is the one game in which it takes one hundred percent every play just for your team to have a chance at success. In other games one player can win a game for you. For example in soccer is little to no action all game. In the end when a team wins one to nothing the game is ultimately won by the one player, which scored a goal. In baseball a pitcher can dominate the entire game and win the game for their team. This is the complete opposite in football because if no one blocks for a running back then there is no way he can score or even gain a first down. Football is the ultimate team game in which you need to go full tilt for the entire game because you know your brother who is standing on either side of you is counting on you and trusts you to do your job.
This is where the most complicated part of football is encountered. Aggression when you get to where you need to be. During the duration of a play you can take all the right steps and be in the right spot but when you meet your opponent it’s a battle to see who is the stronger man. This game is played at full speed every second and hitting is involved on every play so aggression is something that’s a must. A perfect example of this is linebacker Bart Scott during the playoff game against the Patriots. The game was over and he was in his press conference and you could still see the aggression and anger he played with all game.
Bing a football player you respect and love to stand next to a man who is playing with a purpose all day. This inspires you to do everything you can to work as hard as him because you know u can count on him and now you don’t want to let him down. I know because I am a five foot five and everyone looks at my size and assumes that I am not able to play this game. This inspires me to play with a purpose and a chip on my shoulder to prove my critics wrong. This motivation allows me to play with aggression and as a freshman playing running back for the first time in college I went out with a purpose. I set my mind to creating a physical tone for the team so on my second carry of the game I ran over a senior cornerback on curry who had me by six inches and 70 pounds.
During the long haul of a football season I work to gain a respect of my team by going out everyday and putting in two hours of dedicated work no matter how tired or how meaningless practice seems to me on that day. This is because work everyday in the trenches with your teammates builds relationships to those men that make them seem as if they are my brothers. This bond unites us and enables us to work together for the one common goal.

Hard drive lead to stress

Hard drive failure is something that is a rare occurrence but when it happens to you, it is nothing but a hassle. I have just spent the last hour on the phone with an assistant from IT, who was having me run diagnostic tests to test the computers failure. We reached a screen with beeping and an error message that read 0146, and he used that number to determine that my hard drive had crashed. This is such an inconvenience because I am in the middle of a week in college and I have numerous assignments that require access to the Internet. The inconvenience comes at such a bad time because this is the weekend we are registering for classes so I am already stressed out. The freshman receive last pick for classes so I should be faced with a situation in which I am forced to take a class that I don’t want to take but don’t have an option.

Another trouble that I am up against is the fact that I am most likely without a computer for the next couple days while I have to wait for my new hard drive to come. When the hard drive comes in then I have to schedule an appointment to have a professional install the new hard drive. Then when the new hard drive is installed I am then forced to reload all of the windows settings again. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and it would be a nice break where I can spend time with my family to relax and finish the semester. Stress is at an all time high and I am doing all that I can to control myself to stay under control. My mother motivates me because unfortunate events like this at my house but I could always count on my mother being the calm in the storm. She was the one I could count on to calm any situation or me and help me through it. This is when I could really use her helping hand.

Michael Moriarty: A True Friend

Michael Moriarty is an example of an angel who I was blessed to know. He was a model student, son and mentor to us all. Michael faced numerous challenges in his life but not once would you hear him complain or even as the question why me? This was not in Michael’s character or personality. He was born with only 3 fingers on his left hand was born with a rare esophagus disease, that forced him to endure numerous surgeries in his life time. From the day I first met him in my kindergarten class to the day he passed away, on March 23, 2010, he was someone you could always count on to brighten your day.

In kindergarten we were taught to treat others the way you want to be treated and everyone had glimpses of helpfulness towards others, but for Michael it was something he prided himself on. He would do anything for any one. Michael was a unique individual because in this day and age it is often difficult to find truly divine people. I was blessed to know Michael and he taught so much about being there for others.

I have a story that his mother told me that I will never forget. When Michael passed away we went to his house the weekend after to be with the family and show them that everything was going to be alright and we will be there for them. While at his house we went to his room as a remembrance of him. While in his room we all were looking at his trophy case and she was explaining to us that unlike us Michael was limited as to what sports he could play because of his hand. She said but he was able to do things many other kids didn’t get to do because every winter their family would travel to Hawaii to meet with family and go to the pro bowl. I can remember telling Michael that if possible to get me a Brett Favre autograph because he is my favorite player. I knew that it would not be a simple task so I never expected anything to ever come of it. So while at his house we began to go through his collections of autographs and his mother turned to me and said Michael tried to get you a Brett Favre autograph because he knew that was your favorite player. At that moment I was holding back tears because I knew that Michael made a concerted effort to actually do that for me. This just made me feel lucky that I knew someone who was so giving as Michael. I have missed him every day and I still wear the bracelet with his dates on it, and have never taken it off because I know he is watching down on me.

Wisconsins vs Alabama...Who has a better running game?

Running the football is a mindset. In football when you line up to run the ball its man verses man to see who gets the bigger push and creates a hole for the running back. These two teams have completely different running styles.
Wisconsin has a power running game. They recruit large physical offensive lineman that creates a wall of men designed to overpower their opponent. In addition to a big offensive line the recruit a big power running back to follow the offensive line. In the 2011 season Wisconsin has an offensive line of Left Tackle- 6’6’’ 320lbs. Junior, a Left Guard of ^’4’’ 330lbs. sophomore, a 6’5’’ 315lbs. Center who is a junior, a Right Guard of 6’4’’ 315lbs. Senior, and to round it all off a Right Tackle who’s 6’7’’ 330lbs. Senior. The running back that compliments this line is Monte Ball. Monte Ball is 5’11’’ and 210lbs. He is a running back that looks to run north and south and doesn’t do too much dancing because he focuses on following his big offensive line and running behind them. This creates an unfavorable road trip for any Big 10 opponent.
In contrast to that Alabama recruits some of the most athletic running backs in the entire nation. The past two running backs they have had were Heisman Trophy winning Mark Ingram. He was talented enough to carry an entire team on his back. Mark won the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore and in that same season carried his team to win a National Championship. In the National Championship game he had 22 carries and accumulated 116 yards and recorded 2 touchdowns. The Crimson Tide was able to follow that legend with Trent Richardson. Trent Richardson is a human highlight tape and is also a freak in the weight room. On the field he can make anyone miss with his agility and power and in the weight room his coach caps his bench at 450lbs to keep him from hurting himself, but he personally believes that he can easily do over 500lbs.
I am passionate about the game of football and I love old school football where each team lines up and runs the ball to prove who has a stronger front line. I appreciate both schools styles and enjoy to watch football on Saturdays when these two teams suit it up.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are the new dominant force in the NFL. The won their last six games of the 2010 season which included the Super Bowl and now find themselves off to a 7-0 start with no desire to slow down. The dominance is led by their superstar of a quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. He was selected by the Packers in the first round of the 2005 draft. When he first got to Green Bay he was able to sit behind one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. This man was known as Brett Favre and he viewed the challenge of following up a legend as a chance to prove he was good enough to play in the league and make a name for himself. He waited his time and learned as much about the game as he could, knowing he would be under intense pressure when he took over.

When his time came it was the 2008 season and many people were still upset because they felt that Brett Favre should have come back to be the quarterback for another season. Aaron took over and let his play do the talking. In his first season he led the Packers to a 6-10 record which had people see glimpses of greatness but many fans were unsure because that was the first time since 1992 that someone not named Brett Favre started a game at quarterback for the Packers. His second season had more of an impact in which the team went 11-5 and Rodgers was named to his first Pro-Bowl. He followed that season up with what every player tries to accomplish in his lifetime and that is a championship. I his third season he led his team to the promise land and returned the Lombardi trophy home to Green Bay. Aaron Rodgers has been able to lead his team to a championship after just three seasons which means there is much more winning in Green Bay’s future. No to mention he has successfully made people accept him and acknowledge that he was the right person to follow a legend.

Nichols College Football

In Coach Loney's first season at the helm of the Nichols College Bison we have faced many obstacles that were out of the ordinary for an average season. The end of football camp was followed up by a hurricane that caused students to evacuate campus which threw off our regular practice routine. We got back on track and found ourselves playing a Friday night game against Westfield, at Vendetti Field. We found ourselves down 21-7 when the offense drove down the field and scored a touchdown to cut the lead to a one possession game. Westfield was on the attack and with about three minutes to go in the game and the ball on the Nichols five yard line, Westfield ran the ball to make a 21-14 game a done deal. When all of a sudden Peter Curto our middle linebacker stripped the ball from their running backand returned it 94 yards for a touchdown. We lined up to kick the game tying extra point. Westfield’s defensive line gave a push and a Westfield player came through and blocked the extra point. We ended up losing the game 21-20.

The Westfield loss is one we can look back on and say that it ultimately changed our season. This began the slippery slope of a season we were blown out of next two games against Framingham and Worcester State. The losing just kept on coming as we began to lose to opponents that we should beat because our confidence is so low. Last week we played MIT which is a great opportunity for us to pick up our first win and of course the weather conditions were about 25 degrees and rain/snow mix we found ourselves packing it in early and losing 23-0. We have one more game to go and it is against Salve Regina. Unfortunately for us this week we experienced a severe snow storm and the school was evacuated, which lead to minimal number of people showing up for practice. We were unable to get quality looks which now leads us to the situation where we are forced to just go out unprepared and work as hard as we possibly can to win this one for our seniors.
